If my previous coverage of In This Moment caused any doubt in the abilities to transform the stage in the Ted into haunted playground worthy of an In this Moment performance, this tour stop only increased my faith in the creative abilities of Maria Brink and Co.
An overwhelming roar came from the audience as each handcrafted outfit uncovered each song in the setlist long before the first note. Brink’s hauntingly beautiful vocals were accompanied by the heavy and melodic instrumental pairings of guitarist Chris Howorth, bassist Travis Johnson, guitarist Randy Weitzel, and drummer Kent Diimel. The dancers flawlessly synced with Brink’s movements as she moved from each dramatically lit set, creating the stunning visuals that secured their nomination (and my photo of their performance in the magazine) for “Best Live Band” by Alternative Press in 2017.
California-based metal band In this Moment joined Halestorm for a female-fronted tour across the US.
Though my previous coverage of them has been in standard city venues, the layout of the Ted allowed for every audience member a perfect view of the band’s carefully choreographed set.
